Follistatin 344 – Research-Grade Recombinant Protein
Follistatin 344 is a recombinant protein corresponding to the 344–amino acid
precursor isoform of follistatin, a naturally occurring activin-binding protein.
This construct is structurally distinct from short synthetic peptides and
represents a single-chain, multi-domain protein system produced using controlled
recombinant expression techniques.
In laboratory research settings, Follistatin 344 is utilized as a reference
material for studying protein–ligand interactions, activin and myostatin binding
dynamics, and structure–function relationships within the TGF-β signaling
superfamily. Its defined amino acid sequence allows researchers to investigate
functional domains and binding behavior without reliance on heterogeneous
biological extracts.
Unlike small peptides or peptide fragments, Follistatin 344 exhibits higher-order
protein folding and may undergo post-translational modification depending on the
expression system. As such, it serves as a useful model for controlled biochemical
and molecular biology research conducted in vitro. This material is intended
strictly for laboratory research use only and is not designed for human or
veterinary application.
